Privacy policy
Last updated: October 15, 2026
This policy explains which personal data the Frekva apps and the website frekva.com process, why, and for how long. The short version: no accounts, no ads and no tracking. The only thing about listening that reaches us is an anonymous count of which stations were heard and for how long.
Who is responsible
Qubit10, Dragoslav Kovacevic, c/o Postflex #9831, Emsdettener Str. 10, 48268 Greven, Germany ("we") is responsible for the Frekva apps and frekva.com. For anything about your data, write to hello@frekva.com.
The app
You need no account. The app contains no advertising ID, no analytics software and no crash-reporting software of its own. Your favorites, recently played stations, song history and settings are stored only on your phone.
- Station list. The app downloads the list of stations and their logos from frekva.com, together with the app version and platform (Android or iOS). As with any website, our servers and Cloudflare, our network provider, see your IP address to answer; we do not store it with anything else. On first launch the app also learns which country you are in from your network (not GPS), only to suggest that country's stations.
- Listening. When you play a station, your phone connects directly to that station's own streaming server. The station or its streaming provider sees your IP address and type of device, as with any internet radio, and its own privacy policy applies. We never relay or record the audio.
- Reports and suggestions. Only when you tap "Report a problem" or send "Suggest a station" does the app send what you entered, together with the station, the app version and platform. We store no IP address or device ID with it. The email address in a suggestion is optional and only used to ask you about that suggestion. We delete suggestions 12 months after they arrive.
- Anonymous listening numbers. The app adds up, per hour, which stations were played and for how long, and sends these totals to us about once an hour at most, while you listen or when you open the app. They carry no ID of your phone or of you. As with any request, our servers see your IP address to answer; we do not store it with the numbers. We keep only the totals added up with everyone else's, per station and hour, for 25 months, and show them to the stations. You can turn this off in Settings › Anonymous listening numbers.
- Crash reports. If you allowed it in your phone's settings, Apple or Google share anonymous crash reports with us under their own privacy terms.
The website
The website has no ads, no analytics software and no tracking or advertising cookies. It sets only the cookies it needs to work: one for security and the session, and one that remembers your language.
- The player. Your favorites, recently played stations and chosen country are kept only in your browser and never sent to us. When you play a station, your browser connects directly to the station's stream; the station sees your IP address, your browser and that you came from frekva.com.
- Anonymous listening numbers. The website's player counts listening in the same way as the app; until they are sent, the totals are kept in your browser. You can turn this off with the switch below.
- Adding a station. The form for adding a station works like the app's suggestions: we keep what you entered, with no IP address, and delete it 12 months after it arrives.
Stations and rights holders
- Declarations. When someone signs for a station, we keep their name, role and email address, the time, IP address and browser of the signature, and the signed document, as evidence of the permission. We keep them while the permission applies and until the statutory limitation period has ended.
- Requests from stations. To check that a request (sign, update or remove) comes from the station, we send a code to the station's official email address. We keep the request and the email address it came from, and for removals also the IP address, as a record of what we did and why.
- Notices from rights holders. We keep the sender's name, organization, email address and message to handle the notice and as a record of it.
- Station contact details. We collect stations' official contact details from their own public websites and official registers, only to contact them about their listing, and never show them publicly. Our emails to stations go to role addresses such as info@, are sent once with one reminder at most, always offer a way to opt out and contain no tracking.
- Admin log. Changes made in our admin panel are logged with who made them and deleted after one year.
Service providers
Our servers, backups and evidence are stored in the EU. Cloudflare handles requests to frekva.com for speed and security, and an email service sends our emails. They process data only on our instructions under data-processing agreements. Where a provider may process data outside the EU, the transfer is covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the EU standard contractual clauses.
Legal bases
- Running the app and website and keeping them secure: our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Declarations and requests from stations: carrying out the agreement or request (Art. 6(1)(b)) and our legitimate interest in being able to prove it (Art. 6(1)(f)).
- Notices to stations: our legitimate interest in telling a station that it is listed and how to be removed (Art. 6(1)(f)).
- Anonymous listening numbers: our legitimate interest in showing stations how much they are heard (Art. 6(1)(f)). You can object at any time with the switch in the app or on this page.
- The optional email address in a suggestion: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time.
Your rights
You can ask us for access to your data, its correction or deletion, a restriction of its processing and a copy of it, and you can object to processing based on our legitimate interest. Write to hello@frekva.com. You can also complain to a data protection authority, for example the one where you live.
Because Frekva has no accounts and the listening numbers carry no ID, we cannot tell who listened to what.
Changes
We update this policy when the app or the way we process data changes. The date of the current version is shown at the top. If we ever show ads, we will update this policy before the first ad appears and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
